Barite

Barite433 is a high grade barite processed from natural ore through several stages of beneficiation process. As a processed barite this material approaches the quality of a precipitated barium sulfate with minimum impurities but at a very economical price.

Typical Properties.

Resistant to acids and alkalis.

Insoluble in water and organic solvents (<0.2%).

An inert product which is lightfast and weather-resistant.

Colour-neutral, due to its low refractive index.

Extremely good wettability due to low specific surface area.

Description:

Barite433 is a high grade barite processed from natural ore through several stages of beneficiation process. As a processed barite this material approaches the quality of a precipitated barium sulfate with minimum impurities but at a very economical price.

Typical Properties

Resistant to acids and alkalis

Insoluble in water and organic solvents (<0.2%)

An inert product which is lightfast and weather-resistant

Colour-neutral, due to its low refractive index

Extremely good wettability due to low specific surface area

Storage

Product should be stored unstacked in dry and closed rooms under room temperature and normal humidity.

Applications

Paint Applications: Where whiteness is not of importance, this product is highly cost efficient and will suit in paint manufacturing applications where its high specific gravity of 4.3 - 4.4 and purity of ~96% will give competitive advantage

Adhesives and Rubber: Inert and color-neutral density enhancer in noise and vibration reduction systems. Extension levels up to 80% can be achieved. Excellent for use in adhesives, mastic compounds, epoxy resin sizing pastes, unsaturated polyester and polyurethane systems, and also in glazes and impregnation agents, grinding pastes, lubricants and separating age

In an adhesive or sealant formulation, barium sulfate is an excellent filler choice in specialized applications where X-ray absorbance or chemical resistance is a necessity. In an area where acoustic damping is required, such as a quiet room, barium sulfate is an optimum alternative.

MH-PBS 1/3 are synthetic barium sulfate products offered either in 1 or 3m sizes and are produced from highly purified reactants in a controlled growth process.

Typical Properties

Resistant to acids and alkalis

Insoluble in water and organic solvents

An inert product which is lightfast and weather-resistant

Colour-neutral, due to its low refractive index

Extremely narrow particle-size range for high gloss specifications

Extremely good wettability due to low specific surface area

Low abrasion during processing due to low Mohs hardness

Storage

Product should be stored unstacked in dry and closed rooms under room temperature and normal humidity.

Applications

Paints & Coatings: Used in weather-resistant and chemical-resistant paint systems. Excellent in matt and semi-matt powder-coating systems due to good rheological properties and compatibility with colored pigments.

Paper: Used as a filler in pulp due to the chemical resistance to acids and alkalis. Excellent retention with uniform particle size structure.

Plastic and Rubber: Inert and color-neutral density enhancer in noise and vibration reduction systems. Extension levels up to 80% can be achieved. Excellent for use in adhesives, mastic compounds, epoxy resin sizing pastes, unsaturated polyester and polyurethane systems, and also in glazes and impregnation agents, grinding pastes, lubricants and separating age
